Somehting new…

Been sitting here on my couch in my well lit living room for the last couple hours, enjoying fresh baked ‘nanner bread, and reheated coffee from this morning. Thinking about how crazy it is that the last time I blogged I had just moved to NYC. Things sure have changed sine then. It’s amazing thinking back, how I thought that I would be there for good once I moved in. Just as soon as Ibecame settled, I accepted a the job here in VA, and have been here since. Now that Norfolk has become my home away from home, I can sincerly say that I’ll miss it once my contract ends in May. In a relatively short period of time, I have experienced so many things and meet so many great people- it’s sort of unbelievable. I’m feeling very thankful at this moment in time. Touring hasn’t always been the easiest thing, but I can say that I’ve learned more about myself in the last 9 months than I think I ever would have working a temp job 9-6 everyday in NY.

Livin in Queens baby!

So it’s been 3 full days now since I got to NY. First night I stayed in a hostel with all my luggage and felt like a real vagabond elite with all my crap. Next morning I went straight to my new place in Queens to drop off my luggage and then it was off to buy linens. Thank fully I have the luxury of having a Bed Bath and Beyond only a block away. Yipeee! I spent friday running around in 3 inch high boots first to a lesson on the west side, and then a couple temp interviews on the east side. Two words… FEET HURTY! ouch.. I ended up having to make a pit stop at payless and buy some comfy shoes. A real impulse buy; one of many already, might I add. Sat, my friend Yvonne came into town and treated us both to Bryn Terfel as Falstaff at the Met.. whoop whoop for student tickets baby! And now.. it’s a lazy sun morning and I had my first official loxbagel from a shop on my block. mmmm..lox (homer style)
So..i’m really excitedabout seeing all my friends from years past here…. that’s one of the best parts about moving!

moving… finally… no really!

Soooooo, finally moving out of H-town to NYC.  Very exciting.  Will be there this coming Wed and really siked about the new place I’ll be in for a couple weeks.  Then I move in with this new roommate that is actually from Houston too!  What a lucky freagin coincidence.  I’ll be living in Queens.  When I told my family that here in Houston, there were all deathly scared for my life.  They associated Queens with gansta rappers and homicide shootings.  But hey, there’s a Starbucks on the corner of the street I’ll be living on.  How bad could it be? DO ganstas drink lattes or cappucinos?  Who knows… I’ll guess I’ll find out soon!

See ya Rita!

So much stress this last week.  I could not be happier that Rita passed us by.  Houston just has too many cool people in it to be wiped out by a natural disaster.  Especially when a man made one lurks close by (ie…chemical plants in DP exploding;-)  Now comes the hard part of beinging 2.5 million people back into the city.  It’s very strange being in a city that’s only a quarter populated, with out a single business open.  So now that we’ve removed all the plywood from the windows and taken our pool fruniture back outside, I guess I’ll continue planning my big move to NYC.  I’ve got a great apartment in Washington Heights waiting for me, and am really excited!  Can’t wait to reconnect with all you guys I haven’t seen in forever!

Why are you so hot, Christian Bale…

I need Christian Bale to be my love slave. My only complaint about Batman Begins is the excess use of clothing when it came to my boyfreind. Definitly worth my student discounted ticket…

Hey Everybody!
Just a quick up date. Here it is less than 2 weeks before I am done with my time here at Opera Theatre St. Louis. It’s been fun, good peoples and good times had by all! I’ll be leaving for Atlantic Coast Opera Festival to try my had at asmaller production of Cavalleria (Santuzza). Eeeeeck! Being a soprano is scary sometimes… but things are fitting well and I LOVE the music. Should be interesting. I’ll be there for a month and then be headed back to Houston to help with my best friend/new sister in law’s wedding reception plans. If anyone’s in town, please let me know! Hopefully a trip to the Guadalupe River (i.e. pic on profile) will happen. Then… if all goes as planned… I’ll be making the big move to the city… NYC that is, with my good freind Ryan. So hey… that’s it for now… more soon
